چکیده

Quasi-static elastoplastic contact problems are ubiquitous in many industrial processes and other contexts, and their numerical simulation is consequently of great interest in accurately describing and optimizing production processes. The key component in these simulations is the solution of a single load step of a time iteration. From a mathematical perspective, the problems to be solved in each time step are characterized by the difficulties of variational inequalities for both the plastic behavior and the contact problem. Computationally, they also often lead to very large problems. In this paper, we present and evaluate a complete set of methods that are (1) designed to work well together and (2) allow for the efficient solution of such problems. In particular, we use adaptive finite element meshes with linear and quadratic elements, a Newton linearization of the plasticity, active set methods for the contact problem, and multigrid-preconditioned linear solvers. Through a sequence of numerical experiments, we show the performance of these methods. This includes highly accurate solutions of a three-dimensional benchmark problem and scaling our methods in parallel to 1024 cores and more than a billion unknowns. An Efficient Numerical Method With a Parallel Computational Strategy for Solving Arbitrarily Shaped Inclusions in Elastoplastic Contact Problems

The plastic zone developed during elastoplastic contact may be effectively modeled as an inclusion in an isotropic half space. This paper proposes a simple but efficient computational method to analyze the stresses caused by near surface inclusions of arbitrary shape. The solution starts by solving a corresponding full space inclusion problem and proceeds to annul the stresses acting normal and...

Parallel Solution of Elastoplastic Problems with Numerical Experiments

In this paper we present efficient parallel implementation of solvers for elastoplastic problems based on the so-called Total Finite Element Tearing and Interconnecting (TFETI) domain decomposition method. We propose a set of numerical experiments to illustrate effectivity of the presented solvers. We consider an associated elastoplastic model with the von Misses plastic criterion and the isotr...

Heuristic approach to solve hybrid flow shop scheduling problem with unrelated parallel machines

In hybrid flow shop scheduling problem (HFS) with unrelated parallel machines, a set of n jobs are processed on k machines. A mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model for the HFS scheduling problems with unrelated parallel machines has been proposed to minimize the maximum completion time (makespan). Since the problem is shown to be NP-complete, it is necessary to use heuristic methods to ...

Static Task Allocation in Distributed Systems Using Parallel Genetic Algorithm

Over the past two decades, PC speeds have increased from a few instructions per second to several million instructions per second. The tremendous speed of today's networks as well as the increasing need for high-performance systems has made researchers interested in parallel and distributed computing. The rapid growth of distributed systems has led to a variety of problems. Task allocation is a...

Adaptive Optimal Control of Elastoplastic Contact Problems

In this article, the optimal control of static elasto-plastic contact problems are discussed. We present regularization approaches for the nondifferentiabilities arising from contact as well as from elastoplasticity in order to apply fast Newton-type solution algorithms. To achieve an efficient algorithm, we adaptively balance the both regularization, the discretization, and the numerical error...
